USDA / FSA Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP)

OVERVIEW: The US Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) provides financial assistance to producers of non-insurable crops when low yields, loss of inventory or prevented planting occurs due to natural disasters. This assistance is available to a landowner, tenant or sharecropper who shares in the risk of producing an eligible crop and who have an annual gross revenue of less than $2 million. To be eligible for this assistance, crops must be non-insurable crops and agricultural commodities for which the catastrophic risk protection level of crop insurance is not available, and must be in one of many commercially produced crops categories. Contact a crop insurance agent if you have questions regarding whether a crop is insurable in your county.

TIMETABLE: The application for coverage and service fees must be filed by the application closing date as established by the producer’s FSA state committee. When applying for post disaster assistance the application must be completed within 15 calendar days of:  1) the natural disaster occurrence; 2) final planting date if your planting was prevented by a natural disaster; or 3) date damage to the crop or loss of production becomes apparent.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Contact your local county FSA offices for application information.
